“Son Heung-min, Richarli Song will receive all the spotlight…” The story behind ‘Captain’ Son

Son Heung-min (Tottenham) did not have a goal or assist, but congratulated Hiralisson for the team. 

Son Heung-min had an interview with Fabricio Romano after winning 2-1 at home against Sheffield United in the 5th round of the 2023-2024 Premier League season held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England on the 16th (Korean time).

Son Heung-min praised Richarlison, who scored a dramatic equalizer that day.

Richarlison moved to Tottenham ahead of last season for a transfer fee of 60 million pounds (100.4 billion won).

However, the results were below expectations. He scored just one goal in 27 Premier League games in the 2022-2023 season. As a striker, he didn’t do his job at all. There was no news of a league score this season until the Sheffield game. He shed tears as if he had been through a lot of emotional distress recently.  

There was no way the Tottenham players were unaware of his situation. ‘Veteran’ and ‘captain’ Son Heung-min would have been able to understand Richarlison’s feelings better than anyone else. 

Maybe that’s why Son Heung-min ran to Richarlison as soon as the game ended with a huge comeback win. He pointed at him and smiled brightly. He seemed to announce, ‘Today’s star is Hi Shali Song!’
